Our research focus is on membrane dynamics and signalling during plant-microbe interactions. Here, we study the molecular mechanisms that enable host cells to keep strict control over infections by symbiotic and pathogenic microbes. For this, we combine a range of advanced imaging approaches with genetics and biochemistry to understand the consecutive steps that occur when microbes approach their eukaryotic hosts. One of our key interests is to unravel the molecular basis and function of higher order protein assemblies and their localization to membrane nanodomains.
