The Bundesbahn arrives in an hourly direct connection by IC / ICE at Freiburg main station. Coming from Kaiserstuhl get off at the DB stop Universitätsklinikum.
Take the tram line 4 from the main station and get off at the Kilianstraße stop.
By car:
There is only limited parking space available. Please use park-and-ride areas and public transport. Take motorway A5 and exit Freiburg-Mitte, follow the signs "Universitätsklinikum". Coming from the Black Forest on the B31 federal road, in Freiburg follow the signs for "Universitätsklinikum".
By airplane:
The nearest airplane destination is EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Take the bus from there to Freiburg main station. Then take the tram line 4 from the main station and get off at the Kilianstraße stop.

Aggregation and accumulation of proteins in the brain are common features of diverse age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Each of these neurodegenerative diseases is associated with abnormalities in the folding of a different protein leading to protein aggregation and ultimately to neuronal death. Alzheimers Disease (AD) is one of these protein conformational diseases which is characterized by the extracellular accumulation of amyloid-? peptide and neuroanatomical changes. Kinetic studies have shown that A? protein aggregation occur via a nucleation mechanism, which resembles a crystallization process (Figure 1). However, little is known about how protein aggregation and deposition is initiated in vivo.
