MIAP Bioimage Analysis Workshop (ImageJ/Fiji macro programing & scripting)

An intermediate level workshop for life science students, Ph.D. (students), postdocs and technicians covering macro programming and scripting with ImageJ/Fiji for reproducible analysis and automation.

Program:

ImageJ is probably the most commonly used scientific image data analysis and editing software. It is an open source program, freely available and runs on all operating systems. New features are constantly being added by the community. Fiji is a package adding multiple addons and plugins to ImageJ, but works just as wonderfully. Thus, ImageJ/Fiji is equally suited for ground-braking new developments and easily accessible established functions.

With this workshop we would like to offer an intermediate level introduction to the ImageJ / Fiji macro programing / scripting for reproducible analysis and automation in digital image processing.

For all major content blocks of the course, you will perform tutorials and apply your newly acquired knowledge in practical hands-on sessions. Furthermore, there will be ample time to discuss your individual needs and challenges.

This workshop is equally suited for undergraduate students as well as Ph.D. students, postdocs and technicians who already use ImageJ / Fiji and want to advance their skills in macro programing and scripting. We expect some basic experience with ImageJ/Fiji but NO experience with macro programing / scripting. If you are already a user of ImageJ/Fiji and want to start in the field of macro programing & scripting to create reproducible data, automated workflows and image analysis pipelines, this workshop is designed for you.

This workshop will be held by dedicated freelance image analysis specialist and ImageJ enthusiast Kota Miura (NEUBIAS; University of Heidelberg).

The registration fee of 50 € covers lunch (finger food), refreshments and coffee & tea with some snacks and sweets for all days of the workshop.

Please note: We highly encourage participants to bring their own laptop to the workshop. We will provide 11 workstations free to use during the workshop in case some participants can't bring their own laptop along. If you can't bring your own laptop, please contact us in advance so we can make sure that you can access one of the workstations.
